Dry Fruits Ladoo

dry fruits laddo
Ingredients - > dates walnuts almonds little ghee .

Method -->

  1. Coarsely  grind everything separately .
  2. Heat ghee in pan .
  3. Roast walnut almond mix for some time .
  4. Remove mixture in a plate
  5. Heat little ghee again.
  6. Cook dates for 2 min .
  7. Mix everything and let it cool a bit .
  8. Make ladoos out of the mixture

Papaya Milkshake

Serves - 1
Calories ~ 100
Ingredients

  1. Papaya - 1 cup
  2. Slim milk \ normal milk - 1 cup
Blend in and enjoy - add some nuts if you want :) 

Moong dal dosa \ cheela


Serves - 2
Calories - ~ 100 cal in one dosa \ cheela
Ingredients 
  1. Sabut Moong dal - 1/2 katori
  2. Rice - 1/3rd of  moong
  3. Green chili - 2-3
  4. Salt - to taste
  5. Ginger - 1 tsb
Part 1
  1. Soak dal and rice over night
Part 2
  1. Grind soaked dal and rice mixture 
  2. Add grated giner green chili and salt to mixture
  3. Make the consistency of that of a dosa \ cheela
  4. Make dosa \ cheela in pan - regular way

Online grocery shopping

Well i am a regular user of BIG BASKET --> http://bigbasket.com/ and  ZOP NOW --> http://bigbasket.com/ , i keep on adding whatever item i need in my online basket and then order once a week. i used to buy vegetables also online but after my moms visit and her regular pestering i realized that


  • I end up ordering more than i need - like 250 grams of mint which mostly goes waste later on as i am not able to finish it off
  • Some vegetables are 10 - 15% expensive than the local vegetable vendor
  • I dont know how fresh these vegiees are :(
  • Checking before buying - well all the stuff these sites sell are clean and don't have any issues - even if you feel something is not fresh \ has gone bad \don't need it now - you can always return it to the delivery boy without any fuss , but checking papaya \ orange - color freshness before buying is different experience and more organic
  • Eggs bread are normally 10% expensive than the local shop
  • Their self branded products are expensive :( rice \ poha \ dals) - well a lot expensive 30 - 40%

But i still like to buy many things from these stores 
  • Items having standard MRP ( Ashirward atta , Amul cheese butter etc , harpik , tooth paste, biscuits , Maggie , corn flakes )
  • Vegetable which are packed neatly and need less cleaning (spinach \ coriander \ mint \ methi)  than the stuff bought from local vendor - eg cleaning spinach bought from local vendor is a cumbersome task 
  • Vegetables difficult to get in local shops ( broccoli \ lemon grass , zucchini , red yellow capsicum , wheat grass , English cucumber)
  • Nandini tetra pack milk (41\ltr) - lot cheaper than Amul tetra pack (52\ltr) :)
  • Emergency or sheer Laziness :)
  • Organic vegetables once in a while usually ones which i use a lot in daily cooking or like to have raw like - tomato , carrot , cucumber , lettuce)
  • Some special chutneys (http://www.zopnow.com/kitchens%20of%20india-s.php) for which i have to scan every corner in a mall
  • Relief from waiting in the payment queue in weekends :(
  • Exotic Imported and Gourmet- black current jam , thai red curry
  • For a working couple who don't want to waste their weekend in grocery store 
  • free week ends :)

Almond Walnut choco fudge

Method
  1. Grind One cup almonds and walnuts
  2. Heat one tsb butter in low heat pan 
  3. Add 2 tsb nutrella chocolate spread
  4. Add crushed dry fruits
  5. Mix well and then let it cool
  6. Spread nicely on aluminium foil
  7. Add some sugar(optional) and raisins
  8. Cut in desired shape
  9. Refrigerate it for 20 min
  10. Enjoy

Oats peanut butter Cookieee



Method
  1. Heat 2 tsb butter in a pan , keep flame on min (throughout the process)
  2. Add 4 tsb peanut butter 
  3. Stir till the consistency is smooth
  4. Add 2 tsb sugar (optional)
  5. Add choco chips \ nuts \ raisin \ nutrela chocolate (anything you like)
  6. Add cup of oats
  7. Mix well and then let it cool
  8. Make small balls and refrigerate it
  9. Enjoy - restrict eating to not more than 2\day - it is delicious but heavy  :)
  10. 2 cookies with a cup of milk makes a healthy on the go breakfast
  11. 1 cookies with a cup of tea is good for healthy evening snack

Oats Chivda


Mushroom soup Indian style


Sauted palak tamater Veg


Kashmiri Kehwa


Herbal Tea


Fresh garam masala

Ingredients
  • Cloves 4-5
  • Coriander seeds (3tsb)
  • Bay leaf - Tej patta (3-4)
  • Black Cardamom (3-4)
  • Green Cardamom (5-6)
  • Cumin Seeds (2-3tsb)
  • Thymol seed - Ajwai (1 tsb)
  • Cinnamon - 1 big stick 
Method
  1. Mildly roast all the spices in a pan
  2. Once spices are roasted , grind finely \ coarsely and store in air tight container
Tip
  • Store in airtight container to retain aroma
  • At a time try making just a weekly or fortnightly supply , this will give your food very fresh aroma
  • Below masala is enough for me for a week , in case you want to more supply , adjust the quantity proportionately
  • You can add following additional spices too to make it more aromatic
    • Mace  - Jaivitri (4-5)
    • Nutmeg Jaifhal (1)
    • Mustard seeds - (1tsb)
    • Fennel seeds - (1tsb)
    • Black pepper corns - (4-5 corns)

Quick Mushroom curry

Ingredients
  • One packet mushroom
  • Red chilly powder (1/2 tsb)
  • Turmeric powder (1/2tbs)
  • Garam masala \ chicken masala powder (1/2tsb)
  • One medium sized onion
  • 3-4 garlic cloves
  • Grated ginger (1/2tsb)
  • asafetida (pinch)
  • Salt
  • Oil
  • 1 green chilly
Method
  1. Clean and chop mushrooms
  2. In a pan heat one tsb oil , to that add pinch of asafetida and mushrooms , add salt to taste
  3. Finely chop onion and ginger
  4. Cook mushrooms till all the water dries up and mushrooms start looking as in photo no 5
  5. Ensure all the water is absorbed and mushrooms change color , remove them to a bowl
  6. In same pan add 1/2 tsb oil , to that add grated onion ginger and garlic, saute till it gets cooked
  7. Add mushrooms , add red chilly powder , tumeric powder , chicken masala , 1 green chilly, adjust salt, add 1/4th cup of water and let it cook till water gets absorbed
  8. Serve with paratha\roti\rice
Variant
  • This is simplest prep you can add boiled peas  to sauteed onion paste and let peas cook for 5-10 min before adding mushroom - (mutter mushroom curry)
Health Tip
  • If you make the simple mushroom sauteed preparation and just add minimal spices you can have it for dinner with salads with out roti , it tastes good
  • To the stage in photo 5 add some water , boil it and have it like soup . for this prep you should chop mushrooms very finely
